Felix Morka says president’s presence was enough to make the APC campaign rally a success, amid criticism over the content of his speech.
The spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Felix Morka, has defended President Bola Tinubu against criticism of his speech at the party’s campaign rally in Kaduna, arguing that the president’s presence was sufficient for the occasion.
Speaking on Arise TV on Tuesday, Mr Morka described the rally as a “spectacular success” and rejected suggestions that the president should have delivered a more policy-focused address.
According to Mr Morka, the event was primarily a political gathering, and President Tinubu was not necessarily expected to use the occasion to outline detailed policy proposals.
His remarks come amid criticism of the president’s speech, with questions raised about its substance and whether it adequately addressed issues affecting Nigerians.
Mr Morka’s defence appeared to place greater emphasis on the significance of the president’s attendance and the overall success of the rally than on the specific content of his address.
Political rallies are typically used by candidates and political parties to mobilise supporters, communicate campaign messages and present their plans to voters.
However, critics often expect presidential candidates to use such platforms to explain their policies and address concerns over the economy, security and the cost of living.
The APC has continued to defend the president’s political engagements, while the debate over the substance of campaign speeches highlights the expectations surrounding public appearances by Nigeria’s leader.
