Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has said President Bola Tinubu needs more than four years for his economic reforms to deliver the desired results, urging Nigerians to support his re-election bid in 2027.

Adeleke made the remarks on Wednesday at the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign council at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where he declared his support for Tinubu’s second-term ambition.

The governor’s comments come amid ongoing national debate over the impact of Tinubu’s economic policies and whether the administration should be given another four-year term to consolidate its reforms.

Since taking office in May 2023, Tinubu has introduced major economic measures, including the removal of the petrol subsidy and changes to the foreign exchange system. The policies have attracted support from some quarters but have also drawn criticism over rising living costs and the pressure on households and businesses.

Adeleke’s call for a second term reflects his position that the reforms require more time to produce the outcomes Nigerians expect.

Tinubu, who was elected president in 2023 on the APC platform, is seeking another term in the 2027 presidential election.

The APC campaign council’s inauguration marks part of the party’s preparations for the next electoral contest, as political alignments and debates over the administration’s record continue to shape the run-up to the polls.
