Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodinma, has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership, describing his economic reforms as bold and necessary steps that have placed Nigeria on the path of recovery.
Speaking at the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors’ Forum stakeholders’ meeting on Friday, Governor Uzodinma said President Tinubu met a nation “that was drowning and suffering from cancer” and took decisive actions that only a courageous leader could make.
According to him, the President inherited deep-rooted economic challenges but was quick to identify the problems and implement reforms aimed at restoring financial stability and national growth.
“Since 2023, the Asiwaju government came into office, and he met a Nigeria that was almost drowning. What was required was a bold leader who would be able to make decisions,” Uzodinma stated.
He explained that the President “discovered the cancer that held Nigeria hostage” and responded with reforms such as the removal of fuel subsidy, unification of exchange rates, and the introduction of sound fiscal policies that are gradually improving the country’s economy.
Uzodinma noted that while the reforms initially brought hardship to citizens, the results are now becoming evident. “There was extreme hardship when the policies were introduced,” he admitted, “but there is jubilation everywhere now that the policies are yielding results.”
The governor emphasised that the economic direction under the Tinubu administration reflects a commitment to long-term national recovery rather than short-term populist measures.
He also commended the collaborative efforts of the APC governors, stating that the party’s leadership across states is united in supporting the President’s “Renewed Hope Agenda,” which aims to strengthen governance, promote economic inclusivity, and create opportunities for Nigerians.
Governor Uzodinma urged citizens to remain patient and optimistic, stressing that “the sacrifices made today are laying the foundation for a more prosperous and stable Nigeria.”
The Progressive Governors’ Forum meeting brought together APC governors and key stakeholders to assess the progress of federal policies and strengthen cooperation among state governments in achieving the administration’s development goals.
