Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to outline the country’s climate priorities, sustainability goals and green investment opportunities at a major sustainability summit in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates.
The presidency said Tinubu will address global leaders, policymakers and investors at the UAE-hosted sustainability summit, where discussions will focus on climate action, energy transition and sustainable development.
According to officials, the Nigerian leader will use the platform to present Nigeria’s strategy for balancing economic growth with environmental responsibility, while highlighting opportunities for international partnerships in renewable energy, climate-smart infrastructure and sustainable financing.
Tinubu is expected to reaffirm Nigeria’s commitment to global climate agreements and stress the need for equitable climate financing for developing economies, particularly in Africa, which remains disproportionately affected by climate change despite contributing little to global emissions.
The summit in Abu Dhabi brings together governments, multilateral institutions and private sector leaders to explore solutions to the climate crisis and mobilise investment towards sustainability-focused projects.
Nigeria has in recent years stepped up efforts to attract foreign investment into clean energy, gas as a transition fuel and climate-resilient development, positioning itself as a key player in Africa’s green transition.
Tinubu’s participation underscores Abuja’s push to strengthen international cooperation and secure funding to support its long-term sustainability and climate goals.
