The Presidency has defended President Bola Tinubu’s appointment record, asserting that recent appointments reflect a fair distribution across Nigeria’s regions, with the North receiving slightly more positions than the South.

According to Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communications, President Tinubu has appointed 71 individuals from the North and 63 from the South to key federal roles.

Dare shared this information via his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday, amidst ongoing discussions regarding perceived regional imbalances in federal appointments.

He emphasized that the President is committed to equity, competence, and national unity in his decision-making, asserting that Tinubu is not motivated by tribal or religious considerations.

“People often isolate the new appointments made by the President and examine them through a tribal lens,” Dare stated. “However, it is premature to conclude that these appointments are lopsided. Tinubu has only just begun his term, and many more appointments are forthcoming.”
