In a revealing conversation on a recent episode of The Culture League podcast, Egbuson reflected on what many might consider a setback, explaining how it led him to the acclaimed MTV series Shuga Naija a role that catapulted him into the limelight.

“I was supposed to be on Big Brother Africa some years ago,” he said. “It was about five of us; we’d done all the necessary things and they asked us to pack our bags and wait to be called to join the show. I even hired someone to manage my social media, but they didn’t pick me. I think Tayo went  I’m not sure who exactly went that year. But that was the year I did MTV Shuga, and MTV Shuga is what launched my career to who I am today.”

The actor, known for his roles in various blockbuster productions, noted that while it initially felt like a disappointment, the experience taught him a powerful life lesson about divine timing and personal destiny.

“I have learnt that sometimes, lost opportunities could be a blessing,” he stated. “I have so many colleagues that have gotten opportunities that I wanted, and I’ve gotten opportunities that people wanted as well.”

Reflecting on his journey, Egbuson added, “When I look at the trajectory of my career, some of those things that I might have gotten would have completely derailed me from where I am today. And I believe that where I am today is where I am ordained by God to be.”

He concluded with a message of resilience for aspiring entertainers and anyone facing unexpected detours in life: “Sometimes, when you lose opportunities, you just have to count it as a blessing, dust your feet and keep on moving. That’s one hard lesson I have learnt.”

Egbuson’s inspiring narrative adds another layer to his public persona, resonating with fans and reinforcing the message that not every “no” is the end of the road  sometimes, it’s just a redirection to something greater.
