Nigerian reality television star and influencer, Natacha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, could not hold back her excitement after being publicly recognised mid-flight by Ibom Air for her recent Guinness World Record-breaking feat.
The former BBNaija housemate, who recently completed an extraordinary record-breaking challenge, was surprised when the pilot of the flight acknowledged her achievement before other passengers, describing her as “a record-breaking Nigerian making the country proud.”
In a video shared on her Instagram page, the pilot could be heard saying, “Ladies and gentlemen, we have a Guinness World Record breaker on board today — Miss Natacha Akide, known as Tacha. She successfully achieved two Guinness World Records for the most makeovers in a given time frame. Let’s give her a round of applause.”
Tacha, visibly elated, smiled and waved in appreciation, although passengers appeared more reserved than expected. She later posted the moment online, expressing gratitude for the gesture and writing, “I wasn’t expecting this at all. Thank you Ibom Air for this beautiful recognition. It means a lot to me.”
The recognition comes after the media personality broke two Guinness World Records — completing 64 makeovers in 5 hours and 145 makeovers in 24 hours — during an event held at the John Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture & History in Lagos.
The challenge attracted widespread attention, with several Nigerian celebrities, including Hilda Baci, Osas Ighodaro, and Liquorose, showing up to support her historic attempt.
While many fans celebrated her achievement online, reactions to the in-flight announcement were mixed. Some social media users praised her for her resilience and determination, while others questioned the authenticity of the Guinness World Record status.
One user, @de_real_oma, commented, “I love how she is her own biggest cheerleader. Keep shining, Tacha!”
Another, @callme_olisadike, asked, “Harmless question — has Guinness officially confirmed her record yet?”
Others defended her against critics, urging Nigerians to embrace a culture of celebrating one another’s wins. @lizzie_caramel wrote, “Fellow Nigerians, let’s imbibe the habit of rejoicing with others. Congratulations, Tacha!”
Despite the mixed reactions, Tacha’s recognition mid-air adds another proud chapter to her growing list of accomplishments. It also reaffirms her position as one of Nigeria’s most resilient and ambitious entertainment figures.
Her words in a follow-up post summed up the moment perfectly: “Whether people clap or not, keep showing up for yourself. You are your biggest cheerleader.”
