Nigeria’s Super Eagles have climbed one spot to 43rd in the latest FIFA rankings released on Thursday, despite their recent 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The three-time African champions played two matches during the March FIFA window, securing a 2-0 victory over Rwanda in Kigali before being held to a draw at home in Uyo. Despite the slight improvement in ranking, Nigeria dropped a ranking point from 1482 in December to 1481.
However, the Super Eagles have fallen out of Africa’s top five, now behind Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, Algeria, and Côte d’Ivoire.
Zimbabwe benefited significantly from their draw against Nigeria, climbing five places to 116th and gaining nine ranking points.
Globally, Argentina retained their top spot, followed by Spain, France, England, and Brazil. The rest of the top 10 includes the Netherlands, Portugal, Belgium, Italy, and Germany.
FIFA noted that 245 international matches have been played worldwide since the last rankings update in December 2024.
