The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially declared Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as the winner of the Anambra State governorship election, securing his re-election for a second term in office.

Announcing the results in Awka on Thursday, the Returning Officer stated that Soludo polled the highest number of valid votes across the 21 local government areas of the state, defeating his closest rivals from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the Labour Party (LP).

Following the declaration, jubilant supporters of APGA thronged the streets of Awka and other parts of the state to celebrate the victory, describing it as a testament to the governor’s performance and the party’s deep-rooted popularity in Anambra.

In his acceptance speech, Governor Soludo expressed gratitude to the people of Anambra for renewing their trust in his leadership, pledging to consolidate on his administration’s developmental strides.

“I am deeply humbled by this renewed mandate. Together, we shall continue building a prosperous, safe, and innovative Anambra that works for all,” Soludo said.

INEC officials commended the largely peaceful conduct of the election, noting that the use of technology and improved logistics contributed to the transparency of the process.

Governor Soludo first assumed office in 2022 after winning the governorship election under the APGA platform, and his re-election reaffirms the party’s dominance in the state’s political landscape.
