The All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman in Sokoto State, Alhaji Isa Sadiq Achida, has dismissed former governor Aminu Tambuwal as “politically retired,” accusing his administration of leaving behind “stagnation and asset stripping.”
Achida claimed Tambuwal deliberately avoided a formal handover to Governor Ahmed Aliyu in 2023 to escape being recorded as leaving a legacy of abandoned projects. He alleged the former governor sought to frustrate his successor’s administration.
By contrast, Achida praised Aliyu for prudent financial management, timely payment of salaries, implementation of the new minimum wage, and delivery of major projects without resorting to loans.
On Tambuwal’s political future, Achida argued the ex-governor lacked an independent base and depended on figures like former governor Aliyu Wamakko to secure power. “No Abuja alliance, no media propaganda, no recycled coalition can revive a politician whose only legacy is propaganda and a collapsed state,” he said.
