KANO — A massive wave of supporters from the Nasarawa Local Government Area converged on the Kano residence of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso on Thursday, in a high-profile show of solidarity for the leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement.
The visit follows a period of significant political upheaval in the state, triggered by the recent resignation of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
Resilience Amid Political Shifts
Senator Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State, acknowledged the visit via a Facebook post on Sunday. He praised the delegation for their “resilience and courage,” noting that their loyalty remained unshaken despite the shifting political landscape.
According to the NNPP leader, the supporters reaffirmed their commitment to the core tenets of the Kwankwasiyya ideology, asserting that their allegiance is rooted in the pursuit of collective progress rather than individual gain.
“I was honored to receive a solidarity visit at my residence in Kano from the resilient people of Nasarawa Local Government,” Kwankwaso stated.
Addressing the delegation, Kwankwaso commended the group for staying the course during what many observers view as a defining moment for the party. He emphasized that the movement remains dedicated to public service and the welfare of the people.
“Together, we remain resolute in upholding and advancing the timeless ideals of Kwankwasiyya,” he added. “The journey continues, and victory is assured by the grace of God and the will of the people.”
OBSERVERS TIMES recalled that the political atmosphere in Kano has been charged since Governor Yusuf’s departure from the NNPP, a move that has sparked intense debate over the future of the party and its control over the state’s political machinery.
The Nasarawa delegation’s visit is seen by analysts as a strategic effort to demonstrate that Kwankwaso retains a formidable grassroots base despite the Governor’s exit.
