Lagos has witnessed a cultural and sporting milestone as the iconic Silverbird Galleria became the stage for an extraordinary Guinness World Record attempt powered by Globus Bank and organised by Poolfest Naija.

For five electrifying days, the city buzzed with excitement as Shehu Bamidele delivered a breathtaking display of stamina, skill and determination. In an unbroken marathon of concentration, he played 8-ball pool for 112 consecutive hours, eclipsing the previous world record of 111 hours.

The feat left spectators awestruck, with the atmosphere inside the Galleria described as nothing short of electric. From seasoned enthusiasts to casual onlookers, the crowd rallied behind Shehu, their admiration growing with every hour of his record-breaking run.

“Shehu was relentless and determined,” said Folajimi Abegunde, Project Coordinator for Poolfest Naija.

“He embodied the spirit of the event, and his focus never wavered.”

Reflecting on his triumph, Shehu dedicated the achievement to Nigeria’s growing cultural and sporting influence:

“This record is proof that Nigeria can command global attention through entertainment and recreation. I am deeply grateful to the organisers, Globus Bank, and every sponsor who made this dream possible.”

The landmark victory not only cements Shehu’s name in the Guinness Book of Records but also positions Lagos as a vibrant hub for world-class talent, endurance and entertainment.
