Security has been significantly reinforced at the gates of Aso Rock Presidential Villa in the capital Abuja, as authorities move to forestall any potential breach linked to a planned protest over the abduction of schoolchildren in Oyo State.
On Thursday, armed personnel and additional security checkpoints were deployed around both the entry and exit points of the Presidential complex, tightening access control and screening measures.
The heightened security presence comes amid growing public anger and calls for demonstrations following the kidnapping incident, which has sparked nationwide concern over rising insecurity and the safety of schoolchildren.
Officials have not issued an official statement on the security escalation, but the measures are widely seen as a preventive step to maintain order around the seat of power.
