The Federal Government has brokered peace between the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) after two days of negotiations.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Mohammed Maigari Dingyadi, confirmed that the Dangote Group has agreed to redeploy all disengaged refinery staff to other subsidiaries within the conglomerate, with no loss of pay.
He added that PENGASSAN, in turn, has agreed to begin the process of calling off its strike.
“The Honourable Minister of Labour emphasised that unionisation is a right guaranteed by Nigerian law and must be respected,” the statement read.
It also assured that no employee would face victimisation over their role in the dispute.
The resolution followed high-level talks attended by National Security Adviser Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, Finance Minister Wale Edun, Budget and Economic Planning Minister Senator Atiku Bagudu, Minister of State for Labour Barr Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, as well as the heads of the DSS and NIA.
