Popular TikTok content creator Habeeb Hamzat, widely known as Peller, was hospitalised on Saturday, following a car crash on the Lekki–Epe Expressway in Lagos. The incident occurred during an Instagram livestream in which he appeared visibly distressed.

The crash unfolded live under the stream title “RIP Peller,” with the influencer driving alone in his newly acquired Mercedes-Benz while crying and engaging in what viewers believed was an emotional phone conversation with his girlfriend, fellow content creator Jarvis, whose real name is Amadou Elizabeth Aminata.

During the livestream, Peller made several alarming statements that suggested emotional turmoil, including threats to cause an accident and references to self-harm. Reports from Punch Newspapers and Lagos Television indicate he repeatedly said phrases such as “I will use this car and have an accident right now,” “I’m scared,” and “Thank you, I’m going to kill myself,” amid circulating rumours of a relationship breakdown.

Moments later, the video showed the vehicle veering off the road before crashing into a barrier, abruptly ending the broadcast. Bystanders at the scene quickly intervened, and subsequent clips shared online captured Peller being assisted out of the damaged vehicle before emergency responders transported him to a hospital.

Images circulated on social media platforms, including X, showed extensive damage to the luxury SUV, described by multiple sources as a custom-wrapped Mercedes G-Wagon reportedly valued at over ₦100 million.

Peller and Jarvis have been one of Nigeria’s most visible online couples since going public in 2024, frequently collaborating on viral skits and livestreams that blurred the line between personal life and content creation. Their relationship has attracted sustained public attention, with several reported breakups and reconciliations throughout 2025. Media outlets including Punch and Daily Post Nigeria have previously documented disputes involving trust issues and the public handling of private conflicts.

As of the time of reporting, neither Peller nor Jarvis has released an official statement regarding the incident, and authorities have yet to provide details on his condition or the circumstances surrounding the crash. The Federal Road Safety Corps has also not commented, though calls for an investigation have emerged online due to concerns over reckless driving and public safety.

The incident has sparked widespread conversation on social media about the mental health pressures faced by young influencers operating under constant public scrutiny. While many expressed concern for Peller’s wellbeing, others questioned whether the livestreamed episode reflected genuine distress or performative behaviour driven by online engagement.
