The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has warned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that the 2027 general elections must be free of glitches and excuses, insisting that electronic transmission of results is non-negotiable.

Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, accused INEC of “institutional manipulation” in past polls and vowed the party would resist any attempt to subvert the will of Nigerians.

“There must be no glitches in 2027. If POS machines work seamlessly across Nigeria, then BVAS machines cannot suddenly fail on election day. That would be deliberate manipulation, and Nigerians will not accept it,” Ologunagba said.

He stressed that real-time electronic transmission of results is vital to protect the sanctity of the vote and safeguard democracy, adding: “The era of excuses is over. Nigerians deserve a credible election, and the PDP will ensure they get nothing less.”

Ologunagba also criticised the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for what he described as premature campaigns and “endorsement shopping”, accusing the party of abandoning governance amid worsening poverty and hardship.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) echoed PDP’s stance, with its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, affirming that making electronic transmission of results compulsory would restore public confidence in the electoral process.
