Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairman, Dan Ulasi, says the party should micro-zone its 2027 presidential ticket to the Southeast if it is to act with honesty and fairness.
Speaking on The Morning Show on Arise Television, Ulasi argued that although the PDP has zoned the presidency to the South, equity demands the slot be given to the Southeast, the only southern region yet to produce a president under the current dispensation.
“The party has zoned the presidency to the South, and if there is honesty, it should go to the Southeast, because we are the only zone in the South without a president in this dispensation,” he said.
Pressed on potential candidates, Ulasi declined to speculate, saying only God knows who will emerge in 2027. He, however, expressed confidence in the party’s revival, citing recent moves to strengthen its structure ahead of the next elections.
His remarks come as PDP leaders intensify efforts to woo former President Goodluck Jonathan and Labour Party’s 2023 candidate, Peter Obi, to fly the party’s flag in 2027.
