Former minister and prominent politician Ali Isa Pantami has expressed confidence in securing the governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State, saying his optimism is rooted in “evidence, not opinion”.
Pantami said a series of polls conducted both physically and online placed him ahead of other contenders in all 13 assessments, reinforcing his belief that he remains the leading choice among party supporters and the wider electorate.
“I’m optimistic about winning the APC governorship primary because I relied on strong evidence, not opinion,” he said. “This evidence includes polls conducted both physically and online, among which I emerged number one in all 13 polls.”
The remarks are likely to intensify political calculations within the ruling party as preparations gather pace ahead of the governorship contest in Gombe, with analysts viewing opinion polls and grassroots support as critical indicators in the race for the party’s nomination.
Pantami’s declaration also signals an early push to consolidate momentum within the APC, amid growing competition among aspirants seeking to shape the political future of the northeastern state.
