Valentine Ozigbo, a leading contender in the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial primary in Anambra State, has vehemently rejected the results of the April 5, 2025, exercise, denouncing it as a “well-orchestrated heist” and a “charade” that undermines democratic principles. He has filed a formal petition with the APC Appeals Committee, alleging widespread irregularities and demanding the party rectify the process.
Ozigbo, in a strongly worded public statement, detailed his grievances, citing the inclusion of non-party members in the delegate list, the exclusion and violent obstruction of genuine party members, manipulated or skipped accreditation, and a lack of transparency in vote counting. “The facts are now public,” he asserted, emphasizing that his challenge is rooted in a commitment to democratic ideals rather than personal ambition.
“This is not just about me. It is about the soul of our democracy. About the values we claim to represent. About the future we owe our children,” Ozigbo declared, reaffirming his dedication to the APC and his aspiration to serve the people of Anambra. He dismissed any notion of defecting or pursuing alternative political opportunities, pledging to “stand firm, here, in the APC” and “fight this good fight to its just end.”
Addressing his supporters, whom he called “the dreamers, the believers, the Valiants,” Ozigbo urged them to remain steadfast and hopeful. He warned those responsible for the alleged manipulation that “the tide of history is turning” and that “the future cannot be bribed or bullied.”
Ozigbo called on the APC to restore its credibility and uphold justice, emphasizing that the Anambra primary is a “defining moment” for the party and the nation. “The party still has a chance to right this wrong and present a candidate who can truly win and govern,” he stated.
He concluded his statement with a rallying cry, “May wisdom guide us, may courage strengthen us, and may the grace of God continue to carry us. Ka Anambra Chawapu.”
