Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has dismissed growing political speculation over the 2027 general elections, declaring that only God will determine his political future.

Speaking at a public engagement in Kano on Tuesday, the governor said he remains focused on delivering good governance rather than being distracted by premature campaign talks and political permutations ahead of the next election cycle.

“2027 is still far away. My fate is in the hands of God alone,” Yusuf said. “For now, my responsibility is to serve the people of Kano State who entrusted me with this mandate.”

The governor stressed that his administration is committed to fulfilling its campaign promises, particularly in the areas of education, healthcare, infrastructure and social welfare. He noted that performance in office, not political manoeuvring, should be the true measure of leadership.

Yusuf also cautioned political actors against overheating the polity with early electioneering, urging them instead to support policies and programmes that will improve the lives of ordinary citizens.

Observers say the governor’s remarks are aimed at dousing speculation about his re-election plans amid increasing political alignments across the state ahead of 2027.

Since assuming office, Yusuf has consistently maintained that governance, not politics, will define his tenure, insisting that history — and divine will — will ultimately judge his leadership.
