BREAKING: Governor Ademola Adeleke has been declared the winner of the 2026 Osun State governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Adeleke, who contested the election on the platform of the Accord Party, secured 511,067 votes, according to the results announced after the completion of collation across the state’s 30 local government areas.
The result gives the incumbent governor another term in office after a closely watched contest against his major challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
INEC’s final collation followed the uploading and verification of polling-unit results on its Result Viewing Portal (IReV), with more than 3,200 polling-unit results uploaded during the collation process.
Adeleke’s victory marks a significant moment in Osun politics, coming after a competitive campaign and a keenly contested election held on Saturday, 15 August.
The election was largely peaceful, although there were reports of isolated incidents, including allegations of ballot-box snatching and technical difficulties with the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) in some locations.
The governor is now expected to continue his administration for another term following his victory under the Accord Party platform.
