Former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege has officially defected to the New Democratic Congress barely 24 hours after announcing his resignation from the All Progressives Congress, in a dramatic political twist ahead of the next electoral cycle.
Omo-Agege is expected to contest for the Delta Central senatorial ticket under the NDC during the party’s primary scheduled for tomorrow, signalling his swift political realignment after weeks of growing tension within the APC in Delta State.
Sources familiar with the development say the former Delta governor hopeful decided to leave the APC following his failure to secure the party’s senatorial ticket, which was retained by Senator Ede Dafinone. Dafinone was reportedly backed by Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, deepening internal divisions within the ruling party in the state.
