An old prophecy has resurfaced online following the tragic death of Arise Television news anchor, Sommie Maduagwu. The late journalist, who was also a former beauty queen, died after a fatal incident at her Lagos residence.

Reports revealed that she allegedly jumped from the third floor of her estate building after armed robbers invaded the premises. Her death sent shockwaves across the media industry, with tributes pouring in from colleagues, viewers and fans who remembered her as one of the station’s most vibrant presenters.

Amid the mourning, a video of Prophet Abel Boma, shared weeks before the incident, has begun to trend on social media. In the recording, dated 9 August 2025, the cleric issued a warning directed at media professionals. He urged news anchors and programme presenters to be cautious with their utterances, stating that some individuals were “after their lives.”

Prophet Boma said:
“Life does not have a duplicate. It is precious. There are plans to take the lives of some people. I advise anchors and presenters to reduce the frequency with which they criticise others. The attacks are becoming too much and should be reduced to prevent unexpected tragedies.”

He further called for prayers for Arise Television, warning that the company risked losing more staff if nothing was done. Although he did not mention names, his message was clearly directed at broadcast journalists.

The prophecy has triggered mixed reactions online. While some social media users expressed shock, recalling the pastor’s earlier warning, others dismissed the resurfaced clip as coincidental. A fan wrote, “The moment I heard the news I remembered you said it,” while another commented, “God can never lie.”

This is not the first time Prophet Boma has issued public prophecies concerning prominent Nigerians. In previous videos, he mentioned artistes such as Burna Boy and 2Baba, urging prayers against violence, confusion, and depression. Some of his earlier statements, he claimed, had already come to pass.
