Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Ojogwu, popularly known as Odumodublvck, has explained the cultural and symbolic reason behind his trademark red cap, describing it as a “war cap” that represents his fight for recognition in the country’s competitive music industry.
Speaking during an appearance on the Comfortably Speaking podcast, the Abuja-born artiste said the red cap is not just a fashion choice but a symbol of Igbo heritage and resistance.
“This is a war cap,” Odumodublvck declared. “In my culture, when warriors are preparing to go into battle, they wear this. The music industry is a battleground, so when I wear the cap, you should understand what time it is.”
The Declan Rice crooner, known for his bold lyrics and unapologetic personality, said the Nigerian music space often rewards rivalry and manipulation rather than talent. He warned that those who engage in unnecessary conflict with him may face consequences of their own making.
“Anybody fighting me should be careful,” he cautioned. “I’ll keep growing, and if my success hurts you, that’s your problem. I’m not competing with anyone — I’m just doing my thing.”
Odumodublvck’s comments come amid renewed online exchanges with fellow rapper Blaqbonez, who reportedly took subtle shots at him in a new release titled ACL.
However, the rapper insisted he is not interested in distractions, noting that his focus remains on pushing boundaries and representing street-conscious rap with originality and confidence.
“I’m representing a generation that refuses to be boxed in,” he added. “The red cap reminds me of where I come from and why I must keep fighting.”
Odumodublvck, who has risen to national prominence with a blend of Afro-rap and street rhythm, continues to inspire conversations across the industry with his outspoken views and cultural symbolism.
