The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has lauded the peaceful nature of the recent by-election in Edo State’s central senatorial district, which took place on Saturday. This positive development follows the efforts of the Edo State Command, led by Commandant Mr. Gbenga Agun, who monitored polling units in multiple local government areas, including Esan South-West, Esan Central, Esan North-East, and Esan South-East.

Agun credited the smooth running of the election to the collaborative work between the NSCDC and other security agencies. He emphasized that the strategic deployment of personnel and sufficient security measures ensured a peaceful atmosphere at the polls. As part of his duties, Agun visited various polling units, interacting with voters to reassure them about their safety and the protection of election materials.

“We’ve deployed our men in key areas and are working closely with other security agencies to guarantee a peaceful process,” Agun said. Despite a lower-than-expected turnout, he noted that voters were casting their ballots without fear, demonstrating their confidence in the security arrangements.
