New details have emerged regarding the arrest of prominent Nollywood actor and director Stanley Amandi, who is allegedly linked to a violent plot to truncate the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
Amandi, a former chairperson of the Enugu State Chapter of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), was reportedly taken into custody in September 2025. While military authorities initially cited “indiscipline” as the reason for the detention of several officers last year, the Defence Headquarters has now confirmed a comprehensive investigation into a coordinated coup attempt.
Intelligence sources suggest Amandi was recruited by a group of military officers to serve as a chief propagandist for the movement. The plot allegedly included the targeted assassination of Nigeria’s top four citizens: the President, Vice President, Senate President, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
While the indicted military personnel will face court-martials, Amandi is expected to be tried in a civil court. The filmmaker, known for his work on projects like *The Album* and *Tiger King*, has been inactive on social media since his arrest late last year.
