The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) says it remitted N7.91tn to Nigeria’s Federation Account between January and July 2026.

The figure was contained in the company’s July 2026 operational and financial performance report released on Wednesday.

NNPCL also reported N3.09tn in revenue and N279bn in profit after tax during the seven-month period.

The remittance comes despite a decline in the company’s crude oil and condensate production in July.

Production fell to 1.68 million barrels per day in July, from 1.72 million barrels per day in June and 1.73 million barrels per day in May.

NNPCL attributed the latest decline to operational disruptions affecting several production assets, including facility outages, equipment unavailability, pipeline incidents and other production constraints.

The company also recorded a decline in crude oil and condensate sales, with total sales falling to 22.53 million barrels in July, compared with 28.23 million barrels in June.

Of the July figure, 21.53 million barrels were crude oil while one million barrels were condensate.

NNPCL said it was taking steps to restore production levels and improve operational reliability, including preventive maintenance and measures to reduce unplanned downtime.

The company also reported progress on major gas infrastructure projects. It said pre-commissioning work had been completed on the River Niger Crossing section of the Obiafu-Obrikom-Oben gas pipeline, while construction and installation work on the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano gas pipeline was at an advanced stage.

Meanwhile, natural gas production averaged 7.49 billion standard cubic feet per day during the period, while gas sales stood at about 4.6 billion standard cubic feet per day.

NNPCL cautioned that the financial and operational figures contained in the report were provisional and remained subject to reconciliation with relevant stakeholders.

The latest figures highlight the continued importance of the oil and gas sector to government revenues, even as the company faces production challenges across some of its assets.
