The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited and Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration aimed at boosting deepwater oil production and enhancing Nigeria’s energy security.
The renewed partnership was highlighted during a strategic meeting between the management of both organisations, where discussions centred on accelerating deepwater operations, improving production efficiency and unlocking new investment opportunities within Nigeria’s offshore sector.
NNPC said the collaboration reflects its determination to maximise the country’s hydrocarbon resources while ensuring sustainable growth in the oil and gas industry. The company noted that deepwater assets remain a critical component of Nigeria’s long-term production strategy, particularly as the country seeks to increase crude oil output and attract fresh investments.
SNEPCo, one of the leading operators in Nigeria’s deepwater exploration and production business, reiterated its commitment to working closely with NNPC to deliver safe, efficient and technologically driven operations. The company also emphasised the importance of innovation, operational excellence and a stable investment climate in achieving higher production targets.
Industry analysts say stronger cooperation between NNPC and SNEPCo could play a significant role in unlocking additional offshore reserves, improving production capacity and supporting the Federal Government’s efforts to increase oil revenue amid growing global energy demand.
The partnership is also expected to encourage greater confidence among investors in Nigeria’s upstream petroleum sector, especially following recent reforms designed to enhance competitiveness and create a more favourable operating environment.
Both organisations pledged to sustain their collaboration through the deployment of advanced technologies, adherence to global best practices and continued investment in deepwater projects, with the aim of driving long-term value for Nigeria’s economy and the nation’s energy sector.
