Olagunsoye Oyinlola, the former governor of Osun State, says President Bola Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar are too old to run in 2027. He made the point on Wednesday while speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today.
Both men need to step aside, he argued, and let younger Nigerians take charge. Back when he governed Osun, Oyinlola declared that anyone over 50 had no business running for governor. He based that view squarely on what he saw during his own time in office.
He’s adamant that Tinubu and Atiku have done their part. The next generation should get its turn.
“Tinubu and Atiku are too old to contest the 2027 presidency. They should step aside for younger people.
“When I was in Osun, I made a declaration based on my experience in office that anybody above 50 should not aspire to be governor of a state,” Oyinlola said.
