Former Osun State governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola has told President Bola Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar that they’re too old to run in 2027. They should step back and let younger Nigerians take over.
He said it Wednesday on Channels Television’s Politics Today.
Oyinlola drew on his own time in office. As governor he’d already declared that nobody over 50 should even aim for the state’s top job. That stance came from hard lessons he picked up while serving.
He added that both Tinubu and Atiku have given what they had to give. Time now to pass the baton.
“Tinubu and Atiku are too old to contest the 2027 presidency. They should step aside for younger people.
“When I was in Osun, I made a declaration based on my experience in office that anybody above 50 should not aspire to be governor of a state,” Oyinlola said.
