The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has disbursed N7.61 billion in retirement benefits to 4,237 retired officers, marking a significant step in the agency’s efforts to improve the welfare of its former personnel.
The payout, which covers thousands of retirees under the Customs pension scheme, underscores the Service’s commitment to ensuring that officers who dedicated years of service to the country receive their entitlements without undue delay.
The NCS said the disbursement reflects ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening staff welfare, enhancing confidence in the pension system, and fulfilling its obligations to retired personnel. The Service also reiterated its resolve to prioritise the well-being of both serving and retired officers as part of broader institutional reforms.
The payment is expected to provide financial relief to the beneficiaries, many of whom depend on their retirement benefits to meet healthcare, housing and other post-service needs.
The latest disbursement comes amid sustained efforts by the Nigeria Customs Service to improve operational efficiency while promoting a more responsive welfare system for its workforce, reinforcing the agency’s commitment to recognising the sacrifices of officers who served the nation.
