Niger State Government has pledged robust security measures for the upcoming Munya constituency by-election, set for 16 August, following the passing of the late Honourable Joseph Haruna, who previously represented the constituency in the Niger State House of Assembly until his death on 13 September 2024.

Speaking during a campaign tour across key wards, including Beni, Daza, Fuka, and Dandaudu, Deputy Governor Yakubu Garba reassured residents on Sunday of the government’s commitment to ensuring a safe and transparent electoral process. He urged voters, particularly young people and women, to uphold peace and civility throughout the campaign and voting period.

“We are dedicated to fostering a calm and orderly election,” Mr Garba declared. “Our administration has implemented comprehensive measures to safeguard voters and uphold transparency, ensuring a credible process that reflects the will of the people.”

Mr Garba also rallied support for the All Progressives Congress (APC), highlighting the party’s focus on delivering accountable governance and tangible democratic benefits to the constituency. He expressed unwavering confidence in the APC-led government’s ability to drive progress and development in Munya.

The by-election, prompted by the untimely demise of Mr Haruna, is poised to be a pivotal moment for the constituency as it seeks new representation in the State House of Assembly.
