Senator Ali Ndume has called on the Nigerian military to sustain and intensify its operations against Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) following renewed attacks that left at least 25 people dead in parts of Borno State.

The senator, who represents Borno South, described the attacks as tragic and deeply troubling, stressing that the insurgents must not be allowed to regain lost ground. He commended the Armed Forces for their sacrifices and recent gains but urged commanders to maintain momentum to protect civilians and restore lasting peace in the North-East.

Ndume said the latest violence underscored the need for continuous military pressure, improved intelligence gathering and stronger collaboration with local communities. He also called for enhanced support for troops on the front lines, including better equipment and welfare, to enable them to effectively confront the evolving tactics of the insurgents.

While condoling with the families of those killed, the lawmaker appealed to the Federal Government to scale up humanitarian assistance for affected communities and accelerate reconstruction efforts to help displaced residents return home safely.

He reaffirmed that defeating Boko Haram and ISWAP requires not only sustained military action but also a comprehensive approach that addresses poverty, unemployment and other socio-economic challenges that fuel insecurity in the region.
