Senator Ahmed Wadada, representing Nasarawa West, has formally rejoined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), marking a dramatic return to the party he left ahead of the 2023 elections.
Wadada, who defected to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) last year and clinched his Senate seat under its banner, announced his comeback on Tuesday in a letter to the APC Chairman of Tudun Kofar Ward, Keffi.
In the letter, titled “Notification of my Return to the All Progressives Congress”, the lawmaker said his decision followed “careful consideration” and stemmed from his desire to contribute meaningfully to the APC’s growth, development, and long-term success.
His defection to the SDP in 2023 was seen as a major setback for the APC in Nasarawa, but his return is expected to bolster the ruling party’s standing in the state ahead of future political contests.
