Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has commented on the rumored discord between the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai.
In an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, monitored by OBSERVERS TIMES, Governor Sule sought to quell speculation regarding El-Rufai’s loyalty to the APC. “El-Rufai has not left our party; he is still part of the party,” Sule stated on Wednesday night. “It’s too early to start making those kinds of permutations about anyone leaving and the party crumbling.”
The governor also admitted that he has not been in contact with El-Rufai since the latter left office, saying, “I don’t know what he is doing, I do not know where he is, I don’t know anything about his movement.”
On the topic of El-Rufai’s recent ministerial rejection, Governor Sule emphasized that the power to appoint or reject ministers rests solely with President Bola Tinubu. El-Rufai’s aspirations for a ministerial position were thwarted when he failed to pass the Nigerian Senate’s screening process. Sources close to the former governor suggest that he holds President Tinubu accountable for this setback and is determined to make a comeback in the 2027 presidential election.
Furthermore, it has been reported that El-Rufai is currently at odds with his successor, Uba Sani.
