The Nigerian Naira continued its steady appreciation against the US Dollar on Thursday, closing at ₦1,553.11 in the official foreign exchange market, according to data from the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) Daily Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM) Rates.
This marks a gain of ₦12.35, or 0.79 percent, for the Naira compared to its closing rate of ₦1,565.46 per dollar on Wednesday.
The Nigerian currency has demonstrated consistent strength throughout the week, trading at ₦1,579.27 on Tuesday and ₦1,581.58 against the dollar on Monday. Following a bullish close to the previous week, the Naira opened the current week with a gain of ₦4.56.
These sustained gains coincide with the commencement of the recapitalization exercise for Bureau De Change (BDC) Operators, which began on June 3, 2025.
