The National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF) has commenced the nationwide distribution of free fertilisers and agrochemicals to smallholder farmers under the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Farm Inputs Support Programme (FISP), as part of efforts to boost food production and strengthen agricultural productivity.
The programme is expected to benefit about 128,930 farmers across 25 states, with phased distribution already underway in several parts of the country.
According to the NADF, the rollout began in the South-West geopolitical zone, where 20,160 farmers have received 80,640 bags of fertiliser. Distribution is also scheduled to continue in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), where thousands of farmers are expected to receive farming inputs as the initiative expands.
The agency said the intervention forms part of the Federal Government’s broader strategy to support smallholder farmers, enhance crop yields and improve national food security.
NADF added that all fertilisers supplied under the programme are locally produced and clearly labelled “Not For Sale” to curb diversion and ensure the inputs reach their intended beneficiaries.
