Nigeria’s anti-corruption agency has closed its case against Ali Bello, a nephew of former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, after presenting 17 witnesses in an alleged N10.2 billion fraud trial.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday informed the court that it had concluded the presentation of its evidence against Bello and his co-defendants following months of proceedings.
Ali Bello is facing allegations linked to the alleged diversion and misappropriation of public funds amounting to N10.2 billion. The defendants have denied any wrongdoing.
With the prosecution resting its case after calling 17 witnesses and tendering several exhibits, attention now shifts to the defence, which is expected to open its case in the next phase of the trial.
The court subsequently adjourned proceedings to a later date for the defendants to begin presenting their defence.
