A fierce public confrontation has erupted between Emeka Rollas, the National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), and prominent actress Regina Daniels, plunging the inner workings of Nollywood into the spotlight and revealing deep personal and professional rifts.
The conflict ignited when Rollas issued a statement on his Instagram page addressing what he termed “many allegations, misconceptions, and unnecessary accusations” surrounding Daniels’ personal life, specifically her high-profile marriage to politician Ned Nwoko. In his post, Rollas shifted focus to what he described as a “ruinous habit,” directly alleging that the actress abuses substances.
The AGN President stated that veteran actors including Jide Kosoko, Sani Danja, Okey Bakassi, Charles Inojie, and Chinyere Wilfred had witnessed this behaviour at movie locations. He framed his intervention as a call for help rather than public shaming. “My concern here is not to shame you, No. My concern is that you need help. Many of our members have gotten help before you which the Guild was instrumental to. It is not a crime to seek support,” Rollas wrote.
He also launched a sharp critique against Regina Daniels’ mother, Rita Daniels, who is active in guild politics. “If your daughter’s home and health is in distress, AGN elections should not be your priority,” he stated. “Our Guild must be a safe place, and when people in leadership positions openly justify harmful habits as ‘a celebrity lifestyle’, it puts our younger members at risk. All those people cheering you up to go become AGN President are your enemies.”
The actress’s response, delivered via a lengthy Facebook post, was swift and incendiary, targeting Rollas’s character and his tenure as guild president.
“AGN president. Respectfully, there must be something wrong with you,” Daniels began. She defended her mother, whom she said “always sang your praises,” and accused Rollas of being a “disgrace as a president who moves from one office to the other, enriching his pocket in the guise of catering for the well-being of actors.”
She challenged his legacy, asking, “Tell me why you haven’t enforced anything on actors’ protection and residuals in eight years. The only notable impact on the guild is the office you opened recently, after seven years, and much criticism from people, which my family were a major sponsor.”
Daniels then levelled stunning personal allegations, claiming Rollas had a history of “bringing women to my family home several times, taking swimming lessons, which I warned you about, hence your bitterness.” She alleged that this was part of a pattern where he would “lure” high-profile men with women for financial gain.
The actress concluded by expressing her disillusionment, questioning what happened to the “fatherly figure” she once admired. She framed his comments as a paid attack, stating, “I can say for a fact that you were paid chicken change to speak nonsense about a child who benefited nothing under your administration.”
