Middle Belt Forum Announces New Appointments to Strengthen Leadership
The Middle Belt Forum (MBF), a regional socio-political group in Nigeria, has announced new appointments to its National Working Committee (NWC). The appointments, made on January 14, 2025, aim to strengthen the Forum’s leadership and advocacy efforts.
Barrister Aba Ejembi from Benue State has been promoted to National Secretary General, while Mr. Luka Binniyat, Chairman of the Forum’s Kaduna State Chapter, has been confirmed as the National Public Relations Officer (PRO). Binniyat, a veteran reporter and former National Spokesman of the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU), will now serve as the national Spokesman of the Middle Belt Forum.
The Middle Belt Forum plays a critical role in promoting the interests of the Middle Belt people and advocating for their rights. As the overarching umbrella body of the people of the Middle Belt in central Nigeria, the Forum serves as a voice for the region’s diverse population, comprising over 250 ethnic groups speaking over 400 languages.
Dr. Pogu Bitrus, President of the Forum, has urged the Middle Belt family and the general public to cooperate with the new officials. The appointments are expected to bolster the Forum’s efforts to address the challenges facing the Middle Belt region and promote the interests of its people.
The new appointments are seen as a strategic move to reposition the Middle Belt Forum for greater effectiveness in advocating for the rights and interests of the Middle Belt people. With the new leadership in place, the Forum is poised to tackle the myriad challenges facing the region, including insecurity, poverty, and marginalization.
As the Middle Belt Forum embarks on this new chapter, its leadership has reaffirmed its commitment to working tirelessly to promote the welfare and development of the Middle Belt region. With the support of its members and the general public, the Forum is confident that it can make a positive impact on the lives of the Middle Belt people.
