The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has reshuffled the leadership of its 2026 National Convention Central Coordination Committee, appointing former Katsina State governor Aminu Bello Masari as the new chairman, in a strategic move as the party steps up preparations for its national convention scheduled for March.

In a statement issued by APC National Secretary Surajudeen Basiru on Friday, the party said the reconstituted committee reflects “further consultation with leadership and national stakeholders” aimed at strengthening coordination for the convention.

Masari, who led Katsina State from 2015 to 2023 and also served as Speaker of the House of Representatives, replaces Imo State governor Hope Uzodimma — originally named to chair the panel — who will now serve as its treasurer under the new arrangement.

Alongside Masari’s appointment, the APC expanded the committee’s membership from 73 to 90 members, bringing in additional senior party figures to broaden representation from key constituencies.

Former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim was named Vice Chairman I, while Kwara State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, was appointed Vice Chairman II, with Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni retained as secretary of the committee.

The reorganisation comes as the party intensifies internal arrangements ahead of the March convention, where new members of the APC’s National Working Committee (NWC) will be elected — a key step in shaping the party’s leadership landscape ahead of future elections.
