Kabiru Garba Marafa has defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the National Democratic Coalition (NDC), marking his second party switch in a matter of weeks as he intensifies his bid for the governorship of Zamfara State.
The move comes shortly after Marafa left the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the ADC, citing internal disagreements within the party.
Sources familiar with the development say the former senator’s latest defection follows his reported inability to secure the governorship ticket under the ADC platform. He has now aligned with the NDC, where he is said to have received assurances of clinching the party’s ticket ahead of the next election cycle.
Marafa’s rapid political realignments highlight ongoing tensions within party structures and the strategic manoeuvring shaping the race for power in Zamfara, a state with a history of fiercely contested elections.
The development is expected to further reshape the political landscape in the state, as parties reposition and aspirants consolidate support in the lead-up to the polls.
