Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has disclosed that federal security operatives have been operating in the state for the past two weeks, with his administration holding multiple daily meetings to address emerging concerns.
The governor made the revelation while addressing the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), and the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) after the groups staged a joint protest at the Government House in Ibadan.
“Security operatives from the federal government have been in Oyo State for the past two weeks, and we have been meeting with them three to four times daily,” Makinde said, assuring the protesters that efforts were underway to maintain peace and stability across the state.
The protest, led by organised labour and student representatives, brought together workers and students who marched to the governor’s office to press home their demands and seek government intervention on issues affecting their members.
Makinde reiterated his administration’s commitment to dialogue and pledged to continue engaging relevant stakeholders to address concerns raised by the demonstrators.
