The Kano State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has ceded 60 per cent of its state leadership slots to former governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and his supporters.

Party chiefs hammered out the ratio at a recent stakeholders’ meeting where they mapped the incoming structure, state chairman Musa Ungogo told Daily Sun. Under the deal, Kwankwaso’s bloc picks three-fifths of the posts; the remaining two-fifths go to long-time ADC members and new arrivals from other parties.

Ungogo said no separate share was carved out for ex-deputy governor Nasiru Gawuna, noting that Gawuna has already pitched his tent with Kwankwaso and will be absorbed inside the 60 per cent.

The 40 per cent slice is reserved for “legacy” ADC members plus fresh defectors from the Labour Party, PDP, SDP and even factions of the APC, he added.

“Every stakeholder left the hall happy,” Ungogo insisted. “All positions will be filled by consensus—no rancour, no losers.”

He claimed the party’s ranks have “spread like wildfire” across Kano, with waves of newcomers jumping ship from the ruling party and others returning from political hibernation.

Kwankwaso’s switch to the ADC, he said, was the spark, while “our home-grown and national leaders” keep fanning the flame.
