Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has debunked reports alleging that he is plotting to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Describing the claims as “fake news,” Ganduje reaffirmed his loyalty to the ruling APC, insisting that he remains firmly committed to both the party and President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Ganduje, who served as Kano State governor for two terms before assuming the role of APC National Chairman on 3 August 2023, stepped down from the position on 27 June 2025, citing health-related reasons.
In recent weeks, speculation had swirled that the former party chairman and his political allies were preparing to abandon the APC for the ADC. But his spokesman, Edwin Olofu, dismissed the reports on Saturday, stressing Ganduje’s unwavering allegiance.
“Ganduje is a committed member of the APC. He is not just a loyal party man, but also deeply loyal to the President and his Renewed Hope Agenda,” Olofu stated.
The clarification comes as political alignments and defections continue to dominate Nigeria’s build-up to the 2027 general elections.
