Gunmen have abducted David Wada, the district head of Bagaji Odo in Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State, in the latest incident targeting traditional leaders in the region.
According to local sources, Wada was seized at gunpoint on Monday evening while returning home after a council meeting at the LGA headquarters in Abejukolo. His captors are yet to make contact with his family, associates or community members.
Confirming the abduction, Chairman of the Omala Traditional Council and Onu Ife, Boniface Musa, appealed to security agencies to intensify efforts to ensure Wada’s safe release.
Spokesperson for the Kogi State Police Command, William Aya, said security operatives have been deployed to track down the kidnappers. He added that the police are working closely with local hunters and vigilante groups to rescue the traditional ruler.
