The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has applauded the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for steadily strengthening its foothold in Ondo State’s political arena.

State IPAC chairman, Olaoluwa Adesanya, made the remarks on Friday during a courtesy visit to the SDP secretariat in Akure, where he described the party as an increasingly formidable opposition force.

Adesanya noted that IPAC’s role was not to oppose government for its own sake, but to engage in constructive criticism while recognising genuine progress.

“We commend the steady growth of the SDP and the contributions of Barrister Gbenga Akinbuli in deepening democracy in Ondo State. His induction into the Council is a step in the right direction,” he said.

Echoing this, IPAC state secretary, Alex Adeniyi, praised Akinbuli’s recognition within the Council as both “timely and well-deserved”, stressing that his input would further strengthen democratic practice in the state.

In his response, Akinbuli thanked the Council leadership for the solidarity visit and pledged continued support for its programmes.

Other political leaders on the visit included Jenyo Ataunoko, chairman of the National Rescue Movement (NRM), and Funso Felix Owaro, IPAC treasurer and chairman of the Action Revival Movement (ARM).
