In a move to address the ongoing security challenges in his constituency, the Senator representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, Sunday Marshall Katung, has solicited the direct intervention of the Federal Government.
Senator Katung held talks with the Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, at the ministry’s headquarters in Abuja. The meeting, detailed in a statement released on Saturday, is part of a broader strategy to secure stronger federal support for troubled communities in the area.
The discussion centered on the critical need to enhance the safety of residents in Kaduna South, a region that has experienced persistent security threats in recent years. Senator Katung described the engagement as a vital step in a sustained effort to restore normalcy.
“This meeting was a crucial step towards addressing the security concerns affecting some of our communities,” Katung stated.
Following the talks, the Senator expressed optimism about the Minister’s response, noting a firm commitment to collaborating on solutions. He praised Musa’s leadership, describing his approach to national security as both strategic and comprehensive.
“The minister’s approach to security is holistic,” Katung added. “He demonstrated a clear understanding that the challenges in our senatorial district are connected to the broader security needs of Kaduna State and the nation.”
The Senator reiterated that achieving sustainable peace requires a unified effort. He called for enhanced collaboration between political leaders, security agencies, and local community stakeholders, emphasizing that lasting solutions depend on collective action.
