The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has opened its online portal for the recruitment of ad hoc personnel ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections.
The commission said the INECPRES portal was activated on 18 September 2026 and will remain open until midnight on 18 November 2026. Applications are being processed through INEC’s official online platform for eligible Nigerians interested in participating in the conduct of the elections.
INEC said available positions include Supervisory Presiding Officers (SPOs), Presiding Officers (POs), Assistant Presiding Officers (APOs), Registration Area Centre (RAC) Managers and Registration Area Technical Support (RATECH) personnel.
According to the commission, eligibility varies by position. Serving corps members, certain penultimate-year tertiary students, some public-sector employees and eligible former corps members can apply for PO and APO positions, while specific requirements apply to SPOs, RAC Managers and RATECHs. Applicants must also not belong to a political party or have demonstrated or expressed support for a candidate or party.
Applicants are required to provide details including a functional email address and phone number, bank account information, a recent passport photograph, identification documents and relevant academic or staff credentials, depending on the category being applied for.
INEC has urged interested applicants to use its official recruitment channels and complete their applications before the deadline. The commission also warns that registration on the INECPRES platform is free and applicants should not pay anyone for processing or shortlisting.
The recruitment exercise is part of INEC’s preparations for the 2027 general elections, with the commission previously saying it plans to deploy about 1.4 million ad hoc personnel across more than 176,000 polling units nationwide.
