A North Central advocacy group has applauded the performance of JRB Construction Company on several federal road projects, describing the indigenous contractor’s work as a vindication of local capacity in infrastructure delivery.

The Save Nigeria under Renewed Hope Agenda pressure group, in a statement released by its protem leader, Abubakar Yusuf, singled out the Ogbomosho-Ilorin section road project as evidence of JRB’s competence, noting that the firm completed the long-abandoned corridor in under a year.

The dual carriageway, which had remained in a deplorable state for several years under previous contractors, was revoked and re-awarded to JRB Construction Company. According to the group, the road’s poor condition had contributed to numerous accidents and fatalities along the corridor before the intervention.

“The performance of JRB will encourage more participation and patronage of indigenous road contractors in Nigeria as a vote of confidence by the Works Minister,” Yusuf stated, referencing Minister Dave Umahi’s recent commendation of the contractor.

The group highlighted the modern drainage systems installed by JRB on the Ogbomosho-Ilorin route, describing them as a model for both local and foreign construction firms operating in the country. The minister had reportedly praised these drainage structures during an inspection of the completed work.

Beyond the Ogbomosho-Ilorin project, the organisation pointed to JRB’s ongoing remedial works on the Abaji-Gwagwalada-Dikko road and the Giri-Zuba road left lane as further proof of the company’s technical capability. These projects, according to the statement, demonstrate that indigenous contractors can deliver quality infrastructure when given the opportunity.

Yusuf appealed to Umahi, whom he described as a minister who values performance and hard work, to include JRB amongst high-performing indigenous companies deserving of continuous patronage. He urged the ministry to expand opportunities for local contractors in federal road construction projects.

The group pledged continued support for JRB and other contractors, whether indigenous or foreign, that deliver quality work meeting project specifications. It expressed optimism about the minister’s stated goal of constructing roads with 100-year durability under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope administration.

Whilst commending JRB’s machinery deployment, supervision, and management systems, Yusuf urged the company to maintain the standards that earned ministerial recognition. He described the contractor’s performance as starting “on a good foot” and called for sustained momentum on current and future projects.

The statement comes as the federal government intensifies efforts to complete inherited infrastructure projects and address the country’s deteriorating road network, which has long been a source of public frustration and economic losses.
